Zhu Hai (竹海): bamboo forest. Bamboo is an important and significant element in the Chinese culture and also in the East Asian culture, and highly regarded in Confucianism and as such represents the scholar-gentleman's ideal. As same as pine and plum, bamboo doesn't wither in the cold winter, these three plants together symbolize steadfastness, perseverance, and resilience.
 
The edges are decorated with pure silver powder before firing, which may oxidize but easy to clean. We have Gaiwan of the same design which form a complete set, see Zhu Hai - Gaiwan 90ml-100ml.
