Da Ye Wulong is a cultivar native to Anxi County, originally found in Changkeng town. Historical records trace its cultivation back to 1731. Despite its name meaning “large-leaf oolong,” Da Ye Wulong is actually a small- to medium-leaf variety. It is named “Da Ye Wulong” in order to distinguish it from another cultivar in the Anxi region, also known as “Wulong,” which has even smaller leaves.

It is suitable for producing oolong, black, and green teas. Among these, its performance in oolong tea is particularly outstanding, known for its strong fragrance and rich, full-bodied flavor. This cultivar was once widely planted in both southern and northern Fujian’s oolong-producing regions, and was also introduced to Taiwan, where it became one of the island’s four major tea cultivars. However, as new cultivars continue to emerge and dominate, the cultivation of this traditional and time-honored variety has been steadily declining in both mainland China and Taiwan, making it increasingly rare on the market. Don’t miss the chance to experience this representative Oolong from Anxi!

This tea is included in the value offers of Southern Fujian Oolong Tasting Set.
