This is an excellent aged tea from a historic factory, Lincang Tea Factory. Together with some others that are already well-known in overseas market like Kunming Tea Factory, Menghai Tea Factory and Xiaguan Tea Factory, Lincang Tea Factory was one of the most important five tea factories in Yunnan in the time of planned economy. A matter of fact that helps to make an idea of this factory's significance, Lincang Yinhao Tuocha (trademark: Lin Hao) was created by this factory in 1985, and very quickly gained fame since 1987, being considered as one of the best Tuochas along with Menghai Tuocha and Xiaguan Tuocha. This 2002 Gao Shan Chun Jian was the last production of this significant factory, since the next year in 2003 Lincang Tea Factory was privatized into Lincang Qiannian Gucha Ltd.

In the planned economy era, the tea factories blended harvest from different regions upon their own formulas, also, the Gushu concept didn't exist yet. So, except for few information that we can get from the tea name (Gao Shan = High Mountain, Chun Jian = Spring Tips), that it is made from high-grade tender spring buds of high mountain(s), we don't know exactly which tea mountain(s) this tea came from, neither the age of tea trees. Though, all these don't prevent this tea from becoming something spectacular, the high-quality raw material, the technology of the classic factory and the subsequent good aging conditions have brought up it to a treasure tea.

What this tea especially has in its excellence is the orthodox and neutral aging process: being well aged while perfectly keeping away from the common defects that often appear in many aged Puerh, like unpleasant storage odors, etc. It is such a clean tea in both flavors and aromas. The dry leaves are fairly floral, also remind us of a censer with ashes of elegant incense inside, but with very few smokiness; once activated by boiling water, the steeped leaves bring out some vivid woody scents as well as a pleasant aging aroma, as if walking through a forest in a sunny autumn afternoon. Being an aged tea made from tender buds, the liquor is logically mild, but still very flavorful, complex, with round body and has no rawness at all, highlighting the long and slow aging process in very dry, clean storage.
