This is an exceptional first flush black tea from Darjeeling, developed and handcrafted by the Rohini Tea Garden, one of the first eight gardens established after India’s independence. Jethikupi means “eldest daughter” in the Nepali language, a lovely name given by the tea garden.
Jethikupi is made from the very first harvest of the year, handpicked with only two leaves and a bud. After a long period of slow growth during hibernation in winter, the plants concentrate rich nutrients and delicate flavor compounds in their earliest sprouts, creating a unique and charming base for Jethikupi First Flush. The tea is then very lightly oxidized, with oxidation as low as 10%. This meticulous and gentle processing results in a light-bodied golden liquor, with complex flavors, minimal astringency, and maximum freshness. Bright and pleasant aromas emerge in each sip: notes of green olive, herbs, wildflowers, and hints of citrus, offering a truly unique experience and a lingering aftertaste that stays with you.
