Qi Dan is direct descendant of Da Hong Pao. It is the second or later generation reproduced asexually from the mother trees, also known as authentic Da Hong Pao or pure Da Hong Pao, so as to differentiate from those blended ones you can find in the market. As the six mother trees are protected since 2006, and the 20 grams of the last production is preserved in the National Museum of China in the following year, if you want to taste the original flavor of Da Hong Pao, Qi Dan is the only option, for the pure gene of this varietal that it retains.

Due to the excellence inherited from the mother trees and the perfect toasting process, our 2021 Qi Dan is fragrant and tasty. There are delicious ripe fruits scents, honey notes, roasted sweet potato notes and also, warm charcoal toasting aroma, in both the dry and wet leaves, in the liquor, and lingering in the bottom of the teacup. Of course, the typical Osmanthus fragrance stands out on the lid of the Gaiwan. The flavor keeps intense and sweet for multiple infusions together with a slightly dry texture; while it mellows down, it continues to bring out a sweet and creamy liquor.
