China’s most important white tea region is Fuding, whose core production areas are Diantou, Panxi, and Taimu Shan. Among these, there’s no denying that the most renowned is Taimu Shan (太姥山), which has a history of tea production spanning over a thousand years and is recognized as the birthplace of Fuding white tea. In the Tang Dynasty, Lu Yu wrote in The Classic of Tea (written between 760-762 CE): “Three hundred li (150 km) east of Yongjia County lies white tea mountain.” Experts have verified that this “White Tea Mountain” refers to Taimu Shan mountain. With an average elevation of 600 meters, Taimu Shan’s high-mountain tea gardens produce white tea of superior quality, distinguished by the unique charm of its high-altitude terroir.
This 2025 Bai Hao Yin Zhen (or silver needle) comes from a wild plantation in Fangjia Cun, a village-level star micro-terroir in Taimu Shan. Its noble origin, being the best of the best, endows the tea with an extremely delicate character in both flavor and texture. This top-quality fresh Yin Zhen is brisk, refreshing, and sweet, with elegant floral notes, as well as the distinctive “Hao aroma” from the tiny fuzz on the tenderest buds picked in the very first days of spring.
PS: A very limited batch of the same tea, from the 2017 production and from our private reserve, is available. It will surprise you with its delicacy, elegance, and abundant sweetness.
