Da Xue Shan (大雪山), also known as Big Snow Mountain, is the main peak of Bangma Mountains in Mengku town, Lingcang production area, with a maximum altitude of 3’233 meters. Lingcang area was underestimated in the history of Puerh, and Da Xue Shan was even less counted, until in 1997, when the thick bamboo forests died out because of drought and it became easier to enter the primeval forest, the millenarian wild tea tree biomes were found on this tea mountain which subsequently has become prestigious; then Da Xue Shan was further discovered as home to many important tea tree species, including the cultivars of the very famous nearby village Bingdao. Tea trees of Da Xue Shan are large leaf or extra-large leaf varietals, with no fuzz on the glossy leaves and with the sawtooth-shape unclear at the edge, very easy to recognize.

Puerh from Da Xue Shan typically brings out rich flavors, round sweetness and wild scents in the bright yellow liquor, in which bitterness is subtle and fades out quickly, leaving a comforting Huigan in the aftertaste, as well as a charming aroma that lingers especially in the bottom of the teacup for a long time. Although this 2019 Da Xue Shan is not made from Gushu material, it is doubtless a very high-quality choice. The tender spring material by strict harvest standard, one bud with only one leaf, shows us all the advantages and typical features of the region. Being a tea aged just 3 years, it no longer has any of the harshness that usually appears in young Sheng Puerh , and provides an elegant liquor very easy to drink, all due to the good selection of raw material from such a distinguished tea mountain.
