Nong Xiang Tie Guan Yin is also known as ripe TGY or Tan Bei TGY. It is produced in a classic style using the traditional method. Unlike Qing Xiang TGY, Nong Xiang TGY undergoes much deeper oxidation, followed by a roasting process at higher temperatures and with more repetitions. This results in a comforting and warm taste, offering notes of roasted rice, honey, and, when more heavily roasted, also roasting aromas and caramel hints.
Nong Xiang means “strong aroma,” although the aroma of Nong Xiang TGY isn’t necessarily more intense than that of Qing Xiang TGY. Rather, Nong Xiang refers to its aromatic profile: deep and full-bodied, in contrast to the fresh and lifted fragrance of Qing Xiang TGY.
