Yun Xiang means “aroma with subtle charm.” Today, Yun Xiang Tie Guan Yin is widely appreciated for its charming profile; however, it is not an officially recognized aroma variant, as the national standard for Tie Guan Yin includes only three aroma types: Qing Xiang (fresh fragrance), Nong Xiang (strong aroma), and Chen Xiang (aged aroma).
Yun Xiang TGY is crafted using improved traditional techniques, specifically with a lighter and shorter roasting process than Nong Xiang TGY: 4–5 hours at 100ºC, finishing with 15 minutes at 120ºC, while Nong Xiang TGY is roasted for 4–5 hours at over 100ºC, ending with 25 minutes at 125ºC.
As a result, Yun Xiang TGY offers a flavor and aroma profile similar to classic Tie Guan Yin, but retains more floral touches and lighter roasting notes. This thoughtful innovation balances traditional flavor with the modern palate and epitomizes a revival of tradition.
This tea is also included in the value pack: Anxi Tie Guan Yin Tasting Set.
