Yunnan Province is known around the World as being the home of Puerh, however, it is also home to some of the highest quality white teas. Our 2017 Lincang Gushu White Tea is made using the same Gushu material as Puerh and processed in a traditional white tea method unique to Yunnan. This tea is unique in the way it uses Puerh material, making it different from most local white teas and also those from Fujian.
A mixed floral scent, vaguely like daisy and other wildflowers of the countryside, blended with a pleasant smell of dry summer, hits you at first; then with some notes of dried fruits, such as dried apricots or dried figs, appearing in later infusions, once the leaves are well steeped; and of course, the typical aroma of aged white tea is always there both in the tea soup and wet leaves. The tea soup is mellow and sweet like most high-quality aged white tea, however, one difference you may find is a touch of astringency in the last few infusions when longer steeped, highlighting that it is made from a big-leaf varietal, the same material used for Puerh.
